Outings

Throughout the year, outings to places of photographic interest are arranged for members of the Northumberland Photography Club. These outings provide members with a wide range of subjects and shooting situations and allow members to learn more about photography and what their own cameras can do. They also familiarize members with locations that they can return to again and again in the years to come. Finally, and very importantly, the outings provide opportunities for meeting and socializing with other members of the Club.

Due to insurance conditions, these outings are open only to all fully signed-up members of the Club.

See Photos page for lots of photos taken by members on outings.

Hope that you are all enjoying your summer and have gotten out to get some fresh images. This is what I have been planning so far Diego has suggest a return to Mosport Track on September 15th, on September a suggestion from Russ as it has been sometime since last there a return to The Gut Conservation area, as it will be late September will may get a little colour in the leaves. If this was Algonquin they would be near to reaching their peak. Speaking of Algonquin the plan it to meet up at the park on October 8th the day after our monthly meeting in October. This is when the members of the Peterborough Photographic Society are going, they have done this a number of times and going around with them would be a good learning experience as they know the ropes or locations. If going and you are not going to camp in the park, then I would suggest that you look into booking, sleeping arrangements in the East Gate Area. Three suggestions are the Dream Catcher Motel B&B, Algonquin East Gate, or Bellwood Inn B&B these can be found in the yellow pages in Whitney Ontario.

Just a reminder that this Sunday, June 2nd, we have a Club Outing to the west end of Toronto to 1) take in the Exposure Photo & Video Imaging Expo, and 2) visit the Humber Arboretum. I have been holding off on reminding people about this outing because at first Sunday looked like it was going to be quite rainy. The forecast has changed, however, and we are good to go!

I have a few updates for you on this Saturday's Apple Blossom Tyme Festival in Colborne. First, the weather is supposed to be terrific with sun all day as we take in the offerings of the local vendors (with food to sample), the vintage cars and tractors on display, the soap box derby race, the midway, the contests, etc. Second, the good people at the beautiful Loughbreeze Bay B&B (http://www.loughbreezebay.com) where we will be meeting for our 12:30 BBQ have expanded their luncheon offerings just for us; we'll be eating in their beautiful garden area and enjoying a choice of potato salad, Cole slaw, three bean salad, home-made egg salad, chicken salad and of course delicious BBQ'ed hamburgers, multiple condiments included, an assortment of soft drinks or bottled water, and a surprise desert-all for $15 tax and gratuities included (beer and wine extra).

Our next Club outing is this coming Saturday, and the weather looks like it will be perfect for what will be an all-round fabulous day!

Saturday, May 25th – The Apple Blossom Tyme Festival, Colborne. www.appleblossomtyme.com This looks like it will be a lot of fun. Colborne's Apple Blossom Tyme Festival includes "a collection of local vendors and food to sample along with vintage cars and tractors on display, a soap box derby race, a midway, baking contests, a competitive and fun spelling bee, and lots of other contests and activities." We'll meet at 9 am on Saturday at the Cobourg commuter parking lot on the west side of Hwy 45 (Division Road North) just north of the 401 and then car-pool together to Colborne.

Just a reminder that our Club has two outings this week. The first one, Cobourg at Night, is tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. The second one, St. Mary’s Cement Company is this Thursday afternoon. . . Important: the St. Mary’s Cement Company needs to know how many people from our Club are planning to come on Thursday.
